How a Private Week in Kabul Actually Works

A private week in Kabul is not a seat on a fixed group. You pick the dates. The car, the guide, and the hotels are for your group only. The published Kabul week starts at $1,599. A different length or a different route is a quote, not that price.

What private means

You are not waiting for a departure date that other people already booked. You send the days you can travel and how many people are coming. The week is built around that. There is no deposit to start the plan. You get a clear quote before you pay for flights.

The week stays in and around Kabul. You go out in the morning and you are back in Kabul the same night. There is no second city on this product. If you want another city, that is a different trip and a different quote.

What a day is actually like

Someone from the team meets you when you arrive. You are not sorting the first hour out alone. Each day you go out with a licensed guide and a private car, then you return to your hotel in Kabul.

You are not driving that loop yourself. Tourist travel here is guided. The papers in the car have to match the route you are on. At a checkpoint the questions are simple: who you are, where you are going, and whether the permit matches the car. The person answering needs to speak Dari or Pashto. English does not do that job.

If a road is closed, the day changes. The plan does not promise a route that is shut that week. You should hear that before you leave the hotel, not at the barrier.

The permit, separate from the visa

The tourist e-Visa gets you into Afghanistan. It does not, by itself, cover movement once you are here. The travel permit is issued by the Afghan Tour office in Kabul, a government office. It names the provinces on that week's route. The official fee is about 1,000 AFN per province named.

That fee is the office charge for the paper. It is not the $1,599 week, and it is not the guide or the car. Carry a colour print of the e-Visa with your passport. The permit itself should be in the car for the whole week, not left in the hotel safe.

What is in the week, and what is not

Normally included: the guide, private transport, the permit for the provinces on that route, hotels, and airport meet-and-greet.

Not included: your international flights, and specialist travel insurance. Ordinary holiday insurance usually does not cover Afghanistan. Cards rarely work once you leave the airport, so bring some US dollars and some Afghanis. The small official fee is charged in AFN.
